3/11/09 update: Changes to the network on campus have most likely rendered shortcuts and other existing links to Unity useless. The instructions below will need to be following in order to re-establish a conenction to Unity. Old shortcuts/links should be discarded and replaced with new ones.

If you need instructions on how to access it, click on the following link: How to access Unity Once you have accessed the Unity server, you will find that using it is quite simple. Click on Shared Files Locate the departmental folder in which you wish to place or access a file and click to open it If you wish to place a file on Unity so that it can be accessed from another location or by another person, locate that file on your hard drive and then drag and drop it onto the folder in which you wish to place it (...) |

"Although ITS has plans to replace UNITY with a new file server in the
future, I would not characterize this as being "near" - we're talking
next summer at the earliest. Even then UNITY would not simply be shut
off and the new one turned on. There is a plan for migration which we
will share with campus as it becomes more realized and the dates for
migration become more solid. This future file server will have systems
in place to accommodate exactly what you describe below and more." |
The Unity server is a non-secured server which provides a quick and easy option for file sharing and transfer. The server is "drag and drop" capable. If you need to share a file with another person, or need to access it from another computer, it can be as easy as dropping it into a Unity folder on one end and opening it or pulling it right back off on the other end. The server is especially helpful for sharing or moving files which are too large to email as attachments.
